We offer a variety of classes, both in a classroom setting and online, for students of all ages. Our class topics range from music to art to personal enrichment to enhanced job skills. Adventures in Art Camp

Give your budding artist license to explore their creativity in this awesomely cool art camp. Artists ages 7-13 will create 8 different art works using various mediums.

 

 
Is it a bird? Maybe, it's a plane? No, it's a budding Picasso or DaVinci! Give your emerging artist license to be totally creative! In this 4-day art camp, your artist will complete 8 different works of art you’ll be proud to hang and display! Students will work a wide variety of mediums - painting with oils, watercolors, and acrylics, drawing with pencils, charcoal, and – NOT FOUND IN ANY CAMP - working with oil pastels. Individualized instruction by a professional artist emphasizes basic skills of creative art in a fun and easy approach, which yields amazing results. All materials are included, with the exception of paper towels for cleanup! Don’t forget to wear an old shirt to protect your clothes and bring a roll of paper towels!
 
Choose from two great sessions - attend one or both sessions! Each session will feature different subjects and projects while using the same techniques and mediums.
 
Enrollment limited to first 22 registrations received for each session. Don't wait until the last minute - you will miss out on the fun!

Welcome to our 12th year of Camp Kids! We are an excellent choice for summer fun! Our summer day camp meets each day at Wilkinson Middle School [2100 Crest Park, Mesquite 75149], June 14 through June 24 [Monday through Thursday] from 7:30a to 5:30p. We have planned lots of cool activities and field trips that are both fun and educational. You may sign your child up for just one of the weeks or you may elect to attend both exciting weeks. Each student receives a free t-shirt; PLUS, all admission and supply fees, as well as selected lunches, are included in the camp fee. All activities are supervised by district-approved chaperones. Past camps have included trips to Mesquite Aquatic Center at City Lake Park, Texas Freshwater Fish Hatchery, Mary of Puddin' Hill, Fort Worth Stockyards, and Sandy Lake Park. MISD school buses will be utilized for all field trips. You can choose to attend both weeks, or select only one week of your choice. Please call 972-882-5277 for information on making payment arrangements.
 
Week 1 highlights include swimming at City Lake Aquatic Center; a visit to the Museum of Science & Nature [including the IMAX® theater]; exploration of a Mesquite firehouse; roller skating; and a trip to the Dallas Zoo.
 
Week 2 highlights include a visit to Mary of Puddin’ Hill along with lunch; a trip to Fort Worth to get lost in a cowpen maze and explore the Log Cabin Village; spending the day at Sandy Lake Park; and visiting MISD radio station KEOM to see how a radio station operates.
 
An ORIGINAL completed STUDENT REGISTRATION/EMERGENCY INFORMATION FORM is REQUIRED to be on file in our office prior to attendance at camp. Science Safari Science Camp [ages 8-13]
 
Do you just love bugs? Have you ever used a microscope to check out the huge variety of life in a pond or creek? Do you like to build things? If the answer to these questions is yes, then you have to sign up for this seriously cool science camp! You really won’t want to miss these mad and crazy science activities. You will use real tools of science (and make a few, too) to discover new things about magnetism, the mysteries of perception, fossils and so much more. Join our super-enthusiastic, loaded-with-tons-of-ideas safari leader for an explosively fun summer camp. You’ll even get to meet Lightning, her s-s-s-pecial gues-s-s-t!

Camp Medico Healthcare Enrichment Activities Camp [grades 6-9]

 

 
Have you ever considered a career in the healthcare industry? Do you plan on participating in a career and technology program in high school? Join us for this fun and interesting camp to get a headstart on planning! You will enjoy four action-filled days learning about various aspects of working in the field of healthcare in many different capacities.
 
MONDAY, JULY 19...We are headed downtown! Please bring a sack lunch/drink and wear comfortable walking shoes. Our week will begin with a tour of El Centro’s Allied Health with the dean of the school. On the way back, we will stop at KidsQuest Park to eat lunch. When we return to NMHS, we will have fun with hands-on career activities as well discuss filming of a video about hand-washing and spread of germs.
 
TUESDAY, JULY 20...A day of hands-on activities is planned! Please bring a sack lunch/drink. We will receive a visit from City of Mesquite EMTs and explore all the equipment a typical ambulance carries and how it is used. We will also learn CPR [including use of an external automatic defibrillator (AED)] and backboarding procedures along with dressings, splints, and slings.
 
WEDNESDAY, JULY 21...We are headed to Fort Worth! Please bring a sack lunch/drink and wear comfortable walking shoes. Today, we will head to the Fort Worth Museum of History & Science for some exciting exploration and learning. We will eat lunch on the museum grounds and then return to NMHS. Parts will be assigned for video filming and rehearsal will begin.
